Destination...Land Between the Lakes

1st stop Exit 31 RV Park (The Gravel Pit)
Great for a pull thru spot but not what we wanted

Bikes are falling off

We went exploring and found a great place Hillman Ferry Campground.

Elk and Bison Range but the elk were no where to be seen

"The Confluence" The Mighty Mississippi and the Ornry Ohio merge together

Olmstead Lock and Dam Look what STEVEN did!

New camping friends Robert & Gayle take us on their pontoon boat for the day.
We saw Kentucky, Barkley Lake and Eddyville Prison.

Our first bike trip was 13 miles. We rode to an old railroad trestle and through a tunnel. I had to stop and walk part way through it. I now understand the meaning of tunnel vision, I felt like I was going to hit the walls when I couldn't see the sides because of the dark.

Sunset over Kentucky Lake, ending a great trip.

Montague, Michigan

It's about 7:00 AM Monday and we are ready to leave.
After about 8 hours, we made it to Michigan. Still have a few hours to go to get to our camp site.

The next day we couldn't wait to see Lake Michigan. We were hoping to drive along the lake and admire the view, but the roads don't run close enough to the water to see it. Here we are at a beach near Muskegon.

A giant weathervane in Montague.

At a jazz concert in Montague.

Wednesday, we went to the dunes - looks like the Sahara Desert.

Jeannine ran up the dune and back down. Just like a kid!

ORV (Off Raod Vehicle) course in the dunes.

Thursday, we met friends near Traverse City on the way to Mackinaw City.

Mackinac Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in the world. It's a long way by bike!

Friday morning loading bikes onto the ferry to Mackinac Island. Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the island.

At the butterfly house on the island.

An old three-wheeler.

We've made it half way! Now we will have to finish the trip around the island.

First Page

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG!

Our journey began when we bought our RV on June 30, 2009.

We drove to Ohio in our new 2009 GMC 3500 D/A and picked up our 2010 3625 RT Cardinal fifth wheel trailer.

We stayed two nights at Natural Springs RV Resort near Richmond, Indina.

First we went to Hoosier Hill (Indiana High Point) elevation 1257 ft. This site is bascially flat and unremarkable. A boy scout from KY earned his Eagle Scout merits by developing this site.

From there we went to Campbell Hill (Ohio high Point) elevation 1550 ft. Originally this spot was used for some kind of military early warning radar site. Now it is a vocational school.

On the way up to the Ohio high point, we stopped by the Urbana University and saw the Johnny Appleseed Museum. There we saw an apple on a tree which was a decendant of a Johnny Appleseed tree. His name was really John Chapman.

Next day we headed home.
